I have come to think of Hard Candy cosmetics as ‘Chicken Soup for the Makeup Lovers Soul’ and I will tell you why. If you are a makeup lover like me there are probably three things on your mind when trying out a new brand; pigment, staying power and a variety of shades. Giving a new brand a passing grade on all three of those aspects can sometimes mean you’ve also broken the bank. After you’ve spent all of your money just picking up some basics for your own collection, what are the odds that your best friend the beauty guru is going to get any cool makeup from you for Christmas or her birthday? Slim to none. Looks like she’s getting another ‘best friends’ macaroni collage. Girl, that’s where Hard Candy comes in. If you’re wondering where to buy these products head over to Walmart or Walmart.ca because it’s that easy! Now let’s talk formula. Pigment? Check. Staying power? Check. Variety? Double check. What about the price you ask? Literally unbeatable. The quality is amazing for such affordable products, I would say that Canada finally has something comparable to Colourpop (in the US) maybe even better. Ordering online from the states can take forever and after conversion and shipping costs you literally save zero dollars anyway so I’m very happy us Canadians finally have an affordable option for quality makeup. Everything I’m about to show you I have personally tested myself and I’m pleased to say these products definitely deserve some time in the spotlight.
Hard Candy Blush Kit $4.97
I’m going to start with my favourite which is the Hard Candy Blush kit. In my opinion this is not just a blush kit. This is a full out contour and slay kit. For the blush and bronzer there are both matte and shimmer options which is awesome. For the highlight you have two different shades to choose from depending on your skin tone and the look you want to achieve. This is my new everyday go-to for all three, something that makes my more expensive products feel insecure way in the back of my drawer. I’m okay with it though!
Hard Candy Conceal and Correct Kit $4.97
I will admit these sort of kits used to scare me. Green? Purple? What for? I didn’t want to end up looking like a clown so I just stayed away from “correctors”. Of course this was all before I learned what kind of magic these colours can do for you. I know that as a beginner I would have loved to have a kit like this because as you can see, all the shades are numbered. On the back of the kit is a full diagram of the face and really easy instructions on where to put what shade. The formula is sheer-medium and very buildable. When was the last time you saw six concealers for $4.97? Never? Amazing.
Hard Candy Lips of Love set of 3 hydrating Lip Stains $4.97
Love! Love! Love! All three! I know, no build up here but I’m kind of obsessed with these now. I am currently trying to decide if these are even better than liquid lipsticks! I know, I know, makeup blasphemy. You guys don’t understand though, this is a lip stain that goes on like a lip stick, looks like a lip crayon and moisturizes like a lip gloss. Whoa. Appropriately pigmented with the red being the most pigmented and the nude shade being the most sheer.
Hard Candy Lips of Love set of 3 Lip Glosses $4.97
I pretty much freaked out when I saw this set because of that blue, baby! I have never had a blue lip product before but hey! If Jeffree Star can make a pink highlight and a blue liquid lipstick then that’s pretty much free game for the rest of the beauty community to go crazy with colour this year. Exactly what I plan to do! When I saw these I figured they would be incredibly sheer. Wrong. The nude is appropriately sheer but the blue and the deep rose shade give you pigment for days! Days! You simply have to check out the swatches I did of these shades in my Youtube First Impressions video.
Hard Candy Glitter Gel Palettes $4.97
Did someone say NYE?! I’m ready. This year something snapped in my makeup mind and I have had this obsession with loose glitter. The problem with loose glitter is it’s hard to apply, it gets everywhere and mixing with with gels or bases can be a bit tricky. That’s why these are great because they are already mixed with gel and are easy to apply. Not to mention you could go everyday with a new glitter eyeshadow colour and not run out of options for almost 3 weeks.
Hard Candy Glam Kit Extreme $19.97
I know it can be dangerous in the beauty community to throw around the word Dupe. I guess I’m feeling dangerous girls and boys because after swatching these colours I’m confident enough to say that I have found some impressive dupe shades including ones for ‘Champagne Pop’ and ‘Wham Bam’ along with some other expensive shades. From shimmery party colours to neutral warm tones this kit has it all. That’s not even including the 10 unique eyeliner pencils it comes with! Any makeup lover would drool over a palette with 54 shades, all I have to say is get ready for some glamourous makeup tutorials coming your way thanks to this glam kit.
